Providing our children the opportunity to fly
Join the Lupesina Aiga

Our Philosophy
“A’oa’o ia i le tama e tusa ma lona ala; a o’o ina toeaina lava o ia, e le te’a ese ai.” (Faataoto 22:6)

“Train up a child in the way s/he should go, and when s/he is old s/he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6)

Lupesina’s curriculum is centered on a Samoan kaupapa where we will use the Samoan language (through verbal communication, songs, dancing and stories) to endorse Samoan culture and values such as Alofa (Love), Faaaloalo (Respect), ma le teuina o le va fealoai (Positive relationship building).
Parallel to this we also encourage the practice of Christian values such as Love/Learning, Understanding, Passion/Perseverance, Encouragement/Edification, Sharing, Inspiring, Nurturing and Achieving our best - LUPESINA.
We also strongly believe that Maori are tangata whenua and that our children should respect this as well as acknowledge Te Ao Maori (the Maori world), which incorporates Te Reo (Maori language) and Tikanga Maori (Maori culture, protocols and customs).

Our educators will engage with children in an exciting, relevant, comprehensive, planned programme where specific learning outcomes are worked towards. This aims to ensure that each child grows up as a confident, competent learner and communicator, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valuable contribution to society.

“Faauta, o le fanau, o le tofi lea mai le Alii; o e ua fanau mai, o le taui lea mai ia te ia.” (Salamo 127:3)

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3)
Our children are at the heart of all that we do and so by providing this type of environment and programme/curriculum that encompasses all the above values we want children to feel safe and loved and to be well cared for. But we also want them to be challenged, in a fun and exciting way, to learn and be stretched whilst promoting their development and learning at their own pace, by following their interest and providing various opportunities and learning experiences for them at Lupesina.
They will be EMPOWERED through various opportunities and experiences; providing a HOLISTIC APPROACH to their learning and development by respecting and involving the FAMILY AND COMMUNITY in their education; as well as providing the occasions for them to form and create POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS with peers and staff at Lupesina and the wider community.
"O tama a tagata e fafaga i upu ma tala, a'o tama a manu e fafaga i fuga o la'au…" (Samoan proverb)

“Young of birds are fed with the berries of trees whereas the young of humans are fed with words…”
(English Translation)
So at Lupesina we believe that clear, consistent, open and affirmative communication is key to ensuring that we have constructive and strong relationships and partnerships with our children and their families, staffs and their families and the local and wider communities. We believe that our actions/practice, values and “words” should provide positive role modeling for our children as our staff will maintain a high level of professionalism within the service and model appropriate behaviours.
We also value lifelong learning and so our teachers are expected, encouraged and supported in continuing their training and professional development to enhance their knowledge of early childhood education (ECE). By also opening up our Aoga Amata as a placement venue for ECE students from recognised learning institutions, these students will ensure that our teachers keep abreast of current thinking and teaching practice.
